Volunteering is important to me because by helping the Baton Rouge community we are inturn helping the LSU community, future generations, and society as a whole. I was raised with the notion of how important it is to give "it" away if you are fortunate enough to have it. "It" can be anything from the smallest to the largest thing that there is a need for.

I love volunteering, for I am able to serve individuals and situations that I don't normally come into contact with. By broadening my worldview this way, I am able to enrich my own life, while also helping someone else breathe easier.

I am a firm believer in paying it forward.  Volunteering is a great way to give back to a community that has helped you in the past or may help you in the future. Not only is service a way to help out others, it is also a great way to make new friends who want to make a difference as well.

Service is the humbling experience of putting others above yourself. It makes you realize life is bigger than yourself and your problems.

Service is something that I hold very close to my heart. I have been blessed with so many opportunities in my life, so I try to take the time and pass on those opportunites to others. There is always a need for volunteers, so you can serve where you can whenever you can.  I have met the most amazing people, and made some of my very best friends through serving others. You go into something thinking you're going to change someone's life, but in reality they end up changing you in so many ways. What I have learned throughout the years, is that the most valuable thing you can every give someone is your Time!

Volunteering is my chance to help others and to give back to the community. Doing something good for someone not only brings hope and happiness to others but also to yourself.

I volunteer because of a sense of responsibility to one another within a community.  I believe we are only as strong as our collective energy.

I truly believe that the best change and impact an individual can make is through their unselfish desire to serve and better their community. My favorite part of volunteering is working hand in hand with others and fostering relationships with other community members.
