Can I use my scholarship for undergraduate and/or graduate coursework?
The scholarships awarded by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid are for undergraduate work only unless otherwise noted in your official award offer.


How do I earn my full scholarship funding each eligible semester?
You must be enrolled full time through the 14th class day in order to receive your full cash scholarship. You must be enrolled full time through the official University refund period to receive your full exemption scholarship.


If my computed, six-semester high school GPA is below the required 3.0 for scholarship consideration, can I bring up my GPA during my senior year of high school?
No. High school coursework completed by the end of 11th grade are the only courses reviewed for the scholarship GPA calculation.


Do you accept both ACT and SAT scores?
Yes, we accept either standardized test. We will evaluate your application based on the highest composite test score from any one standardized test taken at the national level. The SAT score is evaluated based on the critical reading and math scores only.


Do you super score tests for scholarship consideration?
No, we do not super score tests as we evaluate your application based on the highest composite score on any one test.


What components of the ACT do you review for scholarships?
The highest composite ACT score earned on one test, excluding the writing portion. The writing score will be reviewed only for potential Chancellor’s Alumni Scholars and LSU Alumni Association’s Global Leaders.


What components of the SAT do you review for scholarships?
SAT scores are reviewed based on the math and critical reading scores only. The writing score will be reviewed only for potential Chancellor’s Alumni Scholars and LSU Alumni Association’s Global Leaders.


Do I need to submit my resume for scholarship consideration?
Entering freshmen and transfer students do not need to submit a resume for scholarship consideration because all necessary information is captured on the admissions application. The admissions application also serves as the scholarship application. Continuing students should check with their senior college to inquire about any additional materials that need to be submitted for scholarship consideration.


How many credit hours do I need to earn each year to retain TOPS?
Students are required to EARN a minimum of 24 credit hours each academic year to retain TOPS. For TOPS purposes, the academic year is defined as the fall semester, winter intersession, spring semester, and spring intersession. Students must also maintain full time status each fall and spring semester through the 14th class day.


If I am awarded a scholarship that is retainable for 8 semesters, can the award be extended after my 8 semesters are utilized?
Scholarship policy does not allow for scholarships to be extended past the 8 semesters initially offered.


What if I am awarded a scholarship but choose to attend another university or institution?
The scholarship offer will no longer be valid if you decide to transfer to LSU at a later date.

 

What if I am awarded a scholarship but cannot attend college due to medical reasons, mission opportunity, or other extenuating circumstances?
You should contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid to discuss whether or not you may qualify for a scholarship hold. Scholarship holds are reviewed on an individual basis.
