Ralph Izard joined the Manship School faculty as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research in 2001. He now serves as a professor and will return each spring semester to teach courses and serve as a scholar in the Reilly Center year-round. He was on the faculty at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University for many years and served as director of the school for 12 years.  He specializes in ethics, First Amendment and journalistic writing.  He was a Freedom Forum fellow at the Media Studies Center in New York from 1998-99 and has been the editor of the Newspaper Research Journal since 1988.
