Financial Aid Calendar for UG/Grad/Vet Students


May 2009

May 1

  • Deadline for students to request the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid to cancel a loan for the Spring 2009 semester of the 2008-2009 academic year.

  • Deadline for students to return all required documents to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid to receive a Spring 2009 loan or to receive a loan for the 2008-2009 academic year.

May 6

  • Deadline for students (except Law) to accept a loan for the Spring 2009 semester for the 2008-2009 academic year.

May 20

  • Financial Aid appeals mailed to students not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress based on 2008-2009 coursework.

May 29

  • Earliest date funds are applied to a student’s account (except Law) in the Office of Bursar Operations for the Summer 2009 semester, Session A – Please allow 5-7 business days for a direct deposit or refund check. **Please note that loan funding will only disburse to students with at least half-time hours registered for Session A.**

June 2009

June 1

  • Students employed under Work-Study funds are eligible to begin working for the Summer 2009 semester.

June 8

  • Earliest date for students to request an Emergency Loan to assist with purchasing books for the Summer 2009 semester, Session A; reserved for students who have not received a credit balance from the Office of Bursar Operations for their aid.

June 11

  • Enrollment status on this date determines Pell award amount for the Summer 2009 semester, Session A.

June 19

  • Deadline for students to request an Emergency Loan for the Summer 2009 semester, Session A.

  • Earliest date funds are applied to a student’s account (except Law) in the Office of Bursar Operations for the Summer 2009 semester, Session B – Please allow 5-7 business days for a direct deposit or refund check.

June 29

  • Earliest date for students to request an emergency loan to assist with purchasing books for the Summer 2009 semester, Session B; reserved for students who have not received a credit balance from the Office of Bursar Operations for their aid.

July 2009

July 1

  • Application receipt deadline date for filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for TOPS for the 2009-2010 academic year.

July 3

  • Deadline for students to request an Emergency Loan for the Summer 2009 semester, Session B.

July 6

  • Enrollment status on this date determines Pell award amount for the Summer 2009 semester, Session B.

July 9

  • Summer 2009 semester, Session A 60% date – students must be enrolled through this date in order to have earned federal aid awarded.

July 20

  • Summer 2009 semester, Session B 60% date – students must be enrolled through this date in order to have earned federal aid awarded.

  • Deadline for students to return all required documents to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid to receive a Summer 2009 loan (if requesting summer only loan).

July 23

  • Deadline for students to request the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid to cancel a loan for Summer 2009 (if requesting summer only loan).

  • Deadline for students to accept a loan for the Summer 2009 semester (if requesting summer only loan).

August 2009

August 14

  • Earliest date funds are applied to a student’s account (except Law) in the Office of Bursar Operations for the Fall 2009 semester – Please allow 5-7 business days for a direct deposit or refund check.

  • Students employed under Work-Study or Chancellor’s Student Aide funds are eligible to begin working for the Fall 2009 semester.

  • Earliest date for students to request an Emergency Loan to assist with purchasing books for the Fall 2009 semester; reserved for students who have not received a credit balance from the Office of Bursar Operations for their aid.

  • Deadline for students (except Law) to request an Emergency Loan for the Fall 2009 semester.

  • 14th class day for the Fall 2009 semester – Students receiving TOPS must be enrolled as full-time students through this date to be eligible to receive funds for the fall semester.

September 15

  • Deadline to submit information to resolve an Unofficial Withdrawal situation which occurred in the Spring 2009 semester.

October 2009

October 15

  • Deadline to submit information to resolve Unofficial Withdrawal situation which occurred in the summer 2009 semester.

November 2009

November 15

  • Priority date to be provisionally admitted to guarantee full scholarship consideration for LSU entering freshman awards for 2010-2011.

December 2009

December 1

  • Deadline for all students to request Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid to cancel loan for Fall 2009 (if requesting Fall only loan).

  • Deadline for all students to accept a loan for the Fall 2009 semester (if requesting fall only loan).

December 7

  • Deadline for all students to accept a loan for the Fall 2009 semester (if requesting fall only loan).

January 2010

January 1

  • Earliest date to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2010-2011 academic year (Summer 2010, Fall 2010, Spring 2011) at www.fafsa.ed.gov

January 8

  • For meeting initial TOPS eligibility requirements, a qualifying ACT or SAT score must be achieved no later than this date in the year of high school graduation. Awards may be reduced if tested after this date. Scores acquired on tests taken after June of the graduating year will not be considered.

May 2010

May 3
