Cost of Attendance

Cost of attendance is an estimate of the total expenses for a student attending Louisiana State University.  The total figure includes tuition and fees, room and board (dorm and meal plan costs for an on campus student, or housing and food allowances for an off campus student), books, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses.  The portions that the student will owe to the university are tuition and fees. If the student will live on campus, he or she will also owe room and board fees to the university.  The Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Student Aid uses the cost of attendance when calculating aid eligibility.  Students and parents should use the cost of attendance to build a budget for the academic year and determine how much aid the student will need.

Using the tables below and the budget calculator, you may determine an estimated cost of attendance and create a personal budget.  Please note all amounts other than tuition and fees are based on averages. Visit the Residential Life website for current Housing Rates. A computer cost in the amount of $1,250 per semester may be added for those students who are required to purchase a computer for their major or because they are participating in a Residential College that requires it. The cost may be given in a student's freshmen year for a total of $2,500.
