Best value, high salaries for LSU graduates

February 2017

This fall, LSU was rated as the best value among universities in Louisiana by SmartAsset, and now Kiplinger’s Personal Finance has agreed in the 2017 “Best College Value” rankings. For in-state students, LSU is rated 65 among Kiplinger’s Top 100 Public Colleges, putting LSU as the highest rated public university in Louisiana.

“In today’s higher education market, students are looking at value and return on investment more than ever,” said LSU President F. King Alexander. “We know the value and importance of an LSU degree, and these ratings further show that LSU provides an exceptional educational opportunity to students in Louisiana.”

For its rankings, Kiplinger looked at competitiveness, which includes admission rate and yield; graduation rates; academic support; cost and financial aid; student indebtedness, salary yardstick; and additions and exclusions.

Among public universities in Louisiana, LSU has the highest 4-year graduation rate and the highest salary yardstick at $45,800. Kiplinger’s salary yardstick rating is the median earnings of workers who started college 10 years earlier and who received federal financial aid.
