ADMISSIONS, ASSISTANTSHIPS, AND FELLOWSHIPS

Only fall admissions are granted, with rare exceptions. The application deadline is January 25. All applicants must take the GRE General Examination. A score of 600 on the Verbal element of the examination is generally expected. A minimum undergraduate G.P.A. of 3.2 is generally required. Your application must include about 20 pages of prose, 8-10 poems, or a substantial portion of a script.

LSU provides teaching and editorial assistantships.

Teaching positions usually require teaching one section or course each semester. Successful applicants with teaching assistantships are now awarded supplements and enhancements, as well as full tuition waiver for the entire three years of the program. Editorial assistantships are occasionally awarded to the The Southern Review, The Exquisite Corpse, and The New Delta Review. Completed applications should be submitted no later than January 25.
