Library & Information Science Associate Professor to Keynote 100th Anniversary Conference in the Netherlands.
LSU School of Library and Information Science Associate Professor Michelynn McKnight will be a keynote speaker and workshop leader for the Dutch Information Professional’s Association’s, or NVB’s, 100th anniversary conference in Utrecht, Utrecht Province, Netherlands on November 15 and 16.
McKnight’s workshop will focus on her book “The Agile Librarian’s Guide to Thriving in Any Institution.” “The Agile Librarian’s Guide” focuses on the necessity for speed, flexibility and accuracy in delivering clients information they cannot or do not have the time to find, especially as libraries expand digitally. Her book was developed from years of research and information gathered at her popular workshop among practicing librarians “Proving Your Worth: Convincing Non-Librarian Decision Makers of the Value of Your Essential Services.”
“As we teach our students in the LSU School of Library and Information Science, librarians and other information professionals are doing better what they have always done well - connecting people to the information they need, no matter what the source or context,” said McKnight. “No library service exists for its own sake; all librarians have a mission to the institution they serve to help every member of that institution to be more knowledgeable, more effective and more recognized in the field.”
The workshop aims to tackle issues information professionals may have with their clients or in their work environments, and provide library managers, information institutions and professionals of the NVB solutions.

The NVB was established in 1912 and seeks to unite those engaged and interested in the field of information management and mediation to exchange knowledge and experience, connect colleagues, focus on national and international policy development, and improve professional training.
