SLHRD Assistant Professor wins Early Career Award from National Association; Elected to Executive Committee
Dr. Petra A. Robinson, Assistant Professor in the School of Human Resource Education, recently received the 2016 Early Career Award from the Commission of Professors of Adult Education (CPAE).
Dr. Robinson received this national award at the CPAE’s annual business meeting, held during the Commission’s annual conference. She was one of ten notable early career scholars recognized. The conference was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in conjunction with the annual American Association of Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) Conference.
Additionally, Dr. Robinson was nominated and voted in to serve on the Executive Committee of the Commission. On this committee, she will serve to help co-direct the 2017 CPAE conference and to further the mission of the CPAE.
The CPAE is a very diverse group made up of faculty members from programs all over the world and lists the following as their main purpose and work:
• To act as a vehicle for strengthening and supporting excellence in academic programs in adult education
• To identify and disseminate resources that support adult education as a field of study, research and practice.
• To provide opportunities for the professional development of professors of adult education
• To study and disseminate positions on social issues of concern to adult education
• To provide a forum for critical reflection and dialogue on scholarship and practice that reflects the diversity in adult education
Dr. Robinson is an Assistant Professor at LSU and the Advisor for students in the LSU Online MSc Human Resource Education, Leadership Development and MSc Workforce Development programs. Her interests focus on issues related to critical literacies, diversity and social justice, global lifelong learning, and professional development in the academy. Dr. Robinson has presented at several national and international conferences, authored peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and white papers on these topics.
