CHSE Peabody Society Elects New Members to Board of Directors
The LSU College of Human Science & Education’s Peabody Society Alumni & Friends Board of Directors elected three new members and new officers for 2013-14.
New members, serving three-year terms, include Dawn Braud of Baton Rouge. Braud is the manager at Woman’s Center for Wellness and a graduate of the School of Kinesiology with a master’s in exercise science. Charles “Wally” McMakin of Baton Rouge is also a School of Kinesiology alumus and received his bachelor’s in health and physical safety. McMakin is a partner in Altus Wealth Management LLC. Hermann “Buck” Moyse III of Baton Rouge is a graduate of the School of Social Work and University Laboratory School and works as a realtor and banker in the Baton Rouge area. Melanie Simms of Baton Rouge, associate librarian for the LSU Hebert Law Center, is an alumna of the School of Library & Information Science, receiving her master’s from the school.
New officers serving a one-year term include: Nancy Hammatt, chair, of Baton Rouge, has a bachelor’s in general arts and a master’s in speech; James Gilmore, vice chair, of Slidell, La., received his MPA and PhD in Human Resource Education and Margaret Hart, Secretary/Treasurer, of Baton Rouge, received her bachelor’s degree and her master’s of Social Work from LSU.
The Board is a non-governance, service group that facilitates growth and support of the College through engagement of our College alumni, donors, and community partners. The Board serves the College through fundraising, voluntarism, relationship-building, and advocacy.
