Preschool Summer Camps | Registration Open

The LSU Child Development Laboratory Preschool is offering two-week summer programming (for three to four-year-olds and five-year-olds who are entering kindergarten in the fall).

The Reggio-inspired program is designed to nurture young children's social development while encouraging active exploration through play. Each theme-specific session is designed to address children's overall development in social, cognitive, language, and physical skills.

Week One: On the Move
May 23 - June 3
Focused on fun, physical activities that encourage them to use large muscles and work with others

 

Week Two: Exploring Light and Shadows
June 6 - June 17
Focused on the exploration of various light sources and objects to explore how light can change the way things appear

 

Week Three: The Wonders of Water
June 20 - July 1
Focused on hands-on activities to explore the various properties of water

 

Week Four: Mixing, Making, and Baking
July 11 - July 22
Focused on engaging with a variety of kitchen tools and appliances as they create delicious and healthy dishes

 

Week Five: Amazing Art
July 25 - August 5
Focused on the exploration of a variety of materials, such as clay, string, and wire to produce one-of-a-kind pieces of art

 

 

The Louisiana State University Child Development Laboratory (LSU CDL) Preschool is a Reggio – Emilia Inspired research facility within the School of Education and is aligned with undergraduate and graduate programs in Early Childhood Education specifically. Embedded within the College of Human Sciences and Education, the LSU CDL Preschool serves as a laboratory for the generation of cutting edge research in the areas of child development and education. It also serves as a training site for undergraduate and graduate students and the community as a model demonstration site of effective strategies. Through its support of research and teaching, the LSU CDL Preschool will generate and disseminate knowledge about best practices in early childhood education to support children’s development and learning.
