This study group is designed specifically for small groups of graduate and undergraduate students and accompanying professors whose work with students at U.S. colleges and universities is influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach to education. This trip fits well with short term faculty-led study abroad programs, offering students practical international experience to support their corresponding academic coursework.

Geaux Global in Chile | June 2 - June 22, 2018

Undergraduate and graduate students welcome

The Geaux Global in Chile professional development program provides in-service and pre-service teachers the unique opportunity to teach in a Chilean classroom in partnership with Chilean teachers and students. The English focused school and the LSU team provide enriching professional development experiences for all participants. In addition to classroom experiences and professional development, participants live with host families and are able to better understand the cultural, emotional, and developmental supports provided to second-language learners.

Dublin, Ireland and London, England | June 27 - July 26, 2018

Undergraduate and graduate students welcome

This is your chance to immerse yourself in Irish and English culture and gain an understanding of what life is like outside the United States. Explore topics relating to gender studies, diversity, social justice, and theater while getting to know these two cultures in deeper, more meaningful ways than what's possible through typical tourist visits. With a combined classroom-real world experience approach to learning, you will spend a considerable amount of time seeing each country. Field trips include: Stonehenge/Bath, Kilmainham Gaol, the Tower of London, Globe Theatre, and many more sites!

Social Welfare Policy & Practice in the Latin American Context: Chile | May 23 - June 16, 2018

Graduate students only

Join Dr. Jennifer Scott on a journey to engage in learning about social welfare policy and practice in Concepcion, Chile. You will learn about the structure of the Chilean social welfare system and see how Social Work is practiced in Latin America. Not only will you expand your understanding of social work in the Latin American context and your Spanish skills, through comparative analysis and experience you will also develop a deeper understanding of social welfare policy and innovative approaches to practice in the United States.
