Are you looking for an interesting summer elective and have an interest in sport? Then consider this special topics course on Management of Major Sport Events!

Dr. Per Svensson is teaching KIN 4501, Section 002, Management of Major Sport Events, June 6, 2016 – July 25, 2016.

  • Class is cross disciplinary with a focus on organizational, economical, political, and social issues associated with managing major sport events – an excellent elective for any LSU student interested in learning more about the Summer Olympics and other major sport events!
  • No prior sport management knowledge is necessary for this course

  • Svensson’s personal background involves professional experiences in organizing various aspects of major professional golf tournaments with the PGA of America and the PGA Tour, as well as the 2010 FEI World Equestrian Games. These experiences included working in Operations, Corporate Hospitality Sales, and Transportation Management.
  • Course will allow students to learn about the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics and other major sport events. The timing of the course (June/July) will allow for class discussions and assignments linked to final preparations for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil (to be held Aug 5-21, 2016).
  • Students will learn through a variety of hands-on activities and projects designed to increase their knowledge of the broad range of issues associated with the management of major sport events.
