Student Teaching

All students planning to student teach must submit a formal application during the semester prior to the student teaching semester.  Applications are available on the first day of class each semester in the Office of Student Services, 236 Peabody Hall.  The application must be submitted to the Office of Student Services no later than three weeks after the first day of class.  Late applicants cannot be guaranteed consideration for a student teaching placement.  Applicants are encouraged to take all required PRAXIS II tests toward the end of the semester prior to student teaching.

Eligibility for student teaching includes successful completion of the following:

  • All required coursework
  • LSU and cumulative 2.5 gpa
  • Grade of "C" or better in all content and education courses
  • Passing scores on ALL parts of PRAXIS I or an official ACT composite score of 22 or higher or an official SAT composite score of 1030 or higher on file with the Office of Student Services.
