On behalf of Louisiana State University, I extend deepest condolences to the families and friends of PhD students Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma and Kiran Kumar Allam for their loss.

Many on campus and around the world consider the LSU community a part of their extended family. And, as any family would, we mourn as one over the tragic deaths of two men with the brightest of futures ahead of them.

We were all shocked by the senseless nature of this crime, and I assure everyone that LSU takes campus safety very seriously. Joint efforts are currently underway between the Baton Rouge and LSU Police Departments to sponsor a campus safety seminar, following the return from the semester break. In the meantime, please view our campus safety measures at www.lsu.edu/safety.

In honor of the deceased, the LSU Foundation has established the “Komma & Allam” support fund to help the young men’s families. We realize that no amount of money can return Chandrasekhar and Kiran to their loved ones, but it is our sincere wish that, in some small way, this fund will help ease the burden for those family members who will carry the memories of these young men in their hearts forever. Please visit www.lsufoundation.org for more information on the “Komma & Allam” support fund.

Sincerely,

Sean O’Keefe
