Brandi received her Bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Sciences from Michigan State University and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Western Michigan University.  Her MA thesis examined dialect density and discourse maturity in the written narratives of African American elementary students.  Before enrolling at LSU as a doctoral student, Brandi completed her clinical fellowship at Kalamazoo Public Schools where she provided services to Headstart, elementary, high school and postsecondary students.  Her research interests include language acquisition in culturally and linguistically diverse populations, regional dialect differences, and school-age language assessment.  She is currently working on a project that examines complex syntax as a clinical marker of language impairment.  Brandi is a Huel Perkins/SREB fellow.   She is from Auburn Hills, MI and enjoys scrapbooking in her spare time.
