Science Cafe: Engaging Technology in the Fight for a Healthy Weight

06/29/2015

Amanda Staiano from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center will present a talk on “Engaging Technology in the Fight for a Healthy Weight” for this month’s Science Cafe talk to be held on June 30, 2015 at Chelseas Cafe.

Engaging Technology in the Fight for a Healthy Weight

Instead of blaming technology for contributing to our sedentary lifestyles, Assistant Professor and Director of the Pediatric Obesity and Health Behavior Laboratory at Pennington Biomedical Research Center Amanda Staiano says we should enlist technology as a partner in the fight against childhood obesity. Staiano conducts cutting-edge research engaging screen-time to elicit healthy behavior in kids. Considering a typical child spends eight hours each day using screens, she focuses on how to leverage screen-time to motivate children to be physically active and eat healthy.
