Carlissa Wells
Senior, Biological Sciences with a minor in sociology
Hometown: "I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA but moved to Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina. My family and I now reside in Geismar, LA. "
Carlissa is a huge asset to Campus Life. Just this past semester, Carlissa participated in Splatterbeat, the BSU Fall Gala, and various VLSU events. She also attended the free screening of Pitch Perfect and several LSU basketball games. Carlissa also serves as the Project Coordinator of LSU CUP's 'Fresh Cuts Clean Health' barbershop initiative. This initiative provides free health screenings for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar to men of color in Baton Rouge barbershops to promote health management.
Recent achievement: "I recently got accepted into 2013 Leadership LSU class, Volunteer LSU's CHANGE Break Peru 2013, and was a 2012 summer intern at the California Academy of Science in San Francisco, CA."
Favorite music: Old school music
Favorite BR restaurant: "Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro. I go there every year for my birthday and get the Strawberry Cheesecake. Their New Orleans inspired menu also reminds me of home."
Favorite TV Show: The Men Who Built America on the History Channel. I love learning about the fascinating people and historical facts that made this country what it is today.
Favorite movies: Avatar and Dirty Dancing (the original)
Favorite book: The Bible and The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell
Future Plans: "I plan to receive a Masters of Physician Assistant after I graduate from LSU."
If you could trade places with one person, who would you chose?: "Olivia Pope from the tv series 'Scandal'. She is such a strong and powerful woman. I would love to take on one of her scandals and figure out how to fix it. "
