Mary Wallace
As the Associate Dean of Students and Director of Campus Life, Mary Wallace provides overall vision and leadership for the area of Campus Life. She has served in this role since 2008. Mary’s career in student affairs began in 1994 at the University of Arkansas Monticello. She then spent 14 years in the area of residential life/student housing in Arkansas, the University of Tulsa, Texas Woman’s University, and LSU, before moving over to the Office of the Dean of Students at LSU in 2008. Mary loves meeting students, and spending time finding out how they want to lead and serve, and how they want to leave their mark through their involvement at LSU, and ultimately beyond graduation. She is a devoted wife, and mother of 4 daughters. It is this role that Mary feels her best leadership shines. She spends lots of time in service with her church, and volunteering for different youth events with her children. Her favorite LSU memory is coming to LSU basketball games with her father in the 70s and 80s.

Jacob Brumfield
As an Associate Director of Campus Life, Jacob serves as the overall advisor for the LSU Homecoming Student Committee and supervises the Assistant Directors of Activities, Leadership and Service who support the Campus Kitchens projects at LSU, Leading Streak, Spring Greening Day, Student Activities Board and Volunteer LSU. Jacob (LSU '95) returned to his undergraduate alma mater in 2008. In the intervening years, he earned a Master's degree from Colorado State University, served the Wichita State University (Kansas) community and started a family. Jacob follows his hometown Franklinton High School (La.) Demons' football team and supports his high school alma mater - the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts (Natchitoches, La.) He loves time with family, live music, watching sports, travelling and great experiences with terrific people.

Michelle Lowery
The Associate Director for Student Involvement provides involvement outreach and consulting for students, coordinates educational and support services for over 400 registered student organizations, manages the student organization office space, and advises Students On Target, a sub-committee of Student Government that coordinates the Spring concert and festival called Groovin’ on the Grounds. Michelle has been working at LSU for 11 years. She earned both her Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Master’s Degree in Higher Education from the University of Mississippi. Michelle is also working on a Ph.D. in Higher Education at LSU. Michelle is originally from Mississippi and has a twin brother and two half brothers. She is pictured with her two-year-old nephew, Beckett.

Julie Ruckstuhl
As the Associate Director for Communications, Julie (LSU '76, '80) oversees Design and PR student staff in the Communications Office. The Office provides publicity for all Campus Life events and services, producing posters, flyers, screensavers, ads, logos, brochures, press releases and more, as well as designing and managing the four Campus Life websites. Julie is looking for adventure in whatever comes her way, as long as it’s before 10 p.m. She is a voracious reader, makes jewelry, and likes theater, thrift stores and fixing things. Julie has worked at LSU for 10 years, following 17 years as Art Director at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Josh Dean
Assistant Director Josh Dean primarily advises Volunteer LSU and works with other Campus Life service initiatives including Campus Kitchens Project, Spring Greening Day and Homecoming's CANapalooza. He received his B.S. in Journalism and Mass Media from the University of Idaho and his Ed.M. in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University. In his free time he enjoys reading, writing, traveling and exercising. He's training to complete his first marathon this winter with the inaugural running of the Louisiana Marathon in Baton Rouge.

David Dessauer
As the Assistant Director for Leadership Development in Campus Life, Dave coordinates a variety of experiences for LSU students including the Geaux Lead Retreats, Leading Edge and the Lagniappe Leadership Conference. Additionally, Dave serves as the advisor for the peer leadership faciliation group Leading Streak. A graduate of Louisiana State University, Dave enjoys spending time on campus and working with students. His favorite campus spot is the Parade Ground. In his free time, Dave is an enthusiastic reader who prefers non-fiction works, cooking with his favorite kitchen appliance- a pressure cooker and listening to his favorite band, The Beatles, on vinyl records.

Craig Marcus
The Assistant Director for Activities advises the Student Activities Board (SAB) leadership, the organization’s three committees, and assists with advising the Student Homecoming Committee. Craig is originally from Chicago and earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Communications and Master’s Degree in Adult and Higher Education from Northern Illinois University before coming to LSU in 2008. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration at LSU and in his free time he enjoys being active outdoors, reading a good book, and sitting on the couch watching a movie.

Veronica Shaffer
As an Administrative Coordinator for Campus Life, Veronica is a key liaison to the over 400 registered student organizations and deals with operations for the student organization office space. She assists in monitoring accounts and expenditures for Campus Life, and supervises the Campus Life student staff. Veronica enjoys traveling, watching HGTV and spending time with family and friends. She has worked at LSU for 10 years.

Graduate Assistants
 

Casey Cantrelle
Casey is the Graduate Assistant for Student Involvement; she is responsible for involvement outreach and consulting for students, coordinating educational and support services for registered student organizations. Casey graduated from LSU in Sports Administration with a minor in Leadership Development and has returned to her alma mater to pursue a Master’s in Educational Leadership. In her undergraduate career, Casey participated in all areas of Campus Life, as well as other various organizations both on and off campus including, but not limited to, the Delta Kappa Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha and Special Olympics Louisiana in which she was an intern. Casey is from Monroe, LA and spends most of her time outside of work and school with her two dogs, Davis Major and Addie Lane.

Matthew Mattox
Matt, the Graduate Assistant for Activities, hails from Columbus, Ohio. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 2007 at Ohio University in Social Sciences/Political Science and his Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel at The University of Southern Mississippi in 2008. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Higher Education. Matt has spent the past four years supervising first-year students in Residence Life, as well as advising the Residence Hall Association and Racquetball Club. He also taught a course which provided incoming transfer students with tips for success at a four-year institution. In his spare time, Matt enjoys home improvement projects, going to the movies, playing trombone, playing racquetball, and being a good parent to his two Cocker Spaniels.

Krystie Nguyen
My name is Krystie Nguyen and I am a Graduate Assistant for Campus Life Leadership.  I was born and raised in Vietnam.  When I was eight, my mother decided that moving to The United States of America was a fantastic idea, so we moved across the world and ended up in California.  I spent a lot of time traveling North America before I started my undergrad at North Carolina State University studying History and Education.  I love learning and teaching- because every moment can be a learnable and teachable moment. I have taught preschool, middle school, high school, and coached gymnastics.  I am excited to be at Louisiana State University for my Masters in Higher Education, and I look forward to making your day a little brighter with my spunk.

Claudia Valbuena
The Graduate Assistant for Service graduated from LSU with an International Studies B.A. and Spanish B.A. in May 2010. She returned to her alma mater in Spring 2011 to pursue a Masters in Public Administration. As an undergraduate, she participated in many service-oriented and academic organizations and programs. She would like to encourage all students to participate in the service opportunities available at LSU. Through campus and community involvement, a student can realize the breadth of their potential and the positive impact of their actions.

Allen Womble
A recent graduate of LSU, Allen is a first year Master's student in the Higher Education Administration program. As a Graduate Assistant, Allen directly advises the Homecoming Spirit and Marketing Committees. Allen says he is addicted to Facebook, could not live without music and enjoys cooking for friends.
