Are you interested in restoration efforts? Join Volunteer LSU, as we work in the Old South Baton Rouge community to help organize and clean the Lincoln Theater in preparation for it to become a Community Center for neighborhood residents. Register today for this project taking place on Friday, March 15 from 2pm-5pm.
Registration is limited and closes when capacity is reached or on March 8.

We will be clearing out and reorganizing classrooms at Point Coupee High School. This will help create more usuable space and allow the school to increase their students enrollment. It will take place Saturday, March 23rd from 8 am - 5 pm.

Critical Conversations : Gendered Justice: Women's Voices Changing Lives in the Criminal Justice System
The rate of incarceration for women has increased dramatically within the last decade. Prisons have not kept pace with the growth nor has the criminal justice system adapted to most women's needs. This panel will address new perspectives to public debates on women in this system in addition to women's advocates, sentencing policy, re-entry, reconnecting, and a myraid of other issues that directly affect their lives.

Be a part of Geaux BIG Baton Rouge, LSU's largest day of community service. On April 20, 2013, students will volunteer in the local community completing projects like painting houses, cleaning, yard work, etc. Students and community members can sign up as teams or as individuals. Book Club Discussion: The New Jim Crow
Critical Conversations: The Cradle to Prison Pipeline is designed to teach students, faculty, staff, and public about mass incarceration in the U.S. and Louisiana with the intention of increasing social justice in the federal and state criminal justice systems.

The first featured book will be The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander.
