| The LSU Law School opened its doors in 1906 to 19 students taught by one faculty member and two lecturers, with only a few law books. In the fall of 1969, the Law School--with more than 500 students, 20 faculty members, and a library of 150,000 volumes--moved into the new Law Center building, planned to suit the growing needs of legal academia. The $4 million building houses classrooms, a courtroom, administrative and faculty offices, students facilities, and a library. The Law Center is named for Paul M. Hebert, who served as head of the Law School on three occasions, for the third and final time from 1959 until his death in 1977. |
