La Maison Francaise, or the French House, opened in 1935 as a language immersion center and residence hall for women studying the French or Italian languages. It was restored in 1981 and is currently occupied by the LSU Honors College and Café Vieux Carré, a New Orleans style coffee and beignet shop.
