HCR No. 152

HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 152 passed in the 2010 Legislative Session.

The concurrent resolution directs public postsecondary education management boards and the Board of Regents to publish, including on their respective websites, certain performance and cost data relative to public postsecondary education in Louisiana.

Hardship Aid Criteria

Academic Excellence Fee Exemption: The student must be a recipient of a federal Pell grant. This exemption is valued at $245 per fall and spring semester for full-time students. The exemption is available in the summer and to part-time students at a prorated amount based on the number of hours the student is enrolled.

Operational Fee Exemption: The student must have a zero expected family contribution as defined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and be a recipient of a federal Pell grant. This exemption is valued at $80 per fall and spring semester for full-time students. The exemption is available in the summer and to part time-time students at a prorated amount based on the number of hours the student is enrolled.

Tuition Increase Exemption: The student must have a zero expected family contribution as defined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and be a recipient of a federal Pell grant. This exemption is valued at $832 per fall and spring semester for full-time students. The exemption is available in the summer and to part-time students at a prorated amount based on the number of hours the student is enrolled.

Federal Financial Aid: Grants, loans, and work-study are available to students who meet the hardship criteria above. A free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) is required to apply for such aid.

State Need Based Aid: GO Grant funding is available to needy students as defined by the state and the FAFSA.

LSU's Pelican Promise: This award is available to LA residents who fall within 150% of poverty level and are recipients of a federal Pell grant. The value of this award is $1,998 per fall and spring semester for full-time students only.
