The
Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club was founded in 1937 and is the oldest
and largest club in Louisiana. We have a diverse group of hams who
enjoy the hobby, educational and public service aspects of amateur radio.
We are an Affiliate Club of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) and an
ARRL Special Service Club. The ARRL recognizes clubs that go the extra mile
to provide on-going training and support for the benefit of their community.
BRARC and these extraordinary groups actively pursue all aspects of Amateur
Radio, including:
Club meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM. We normally meet at St. Luke's Episcopal Church. The address is 8833 Goodwood Blvd Baton Rouge. (just behind Woman's Hospital.) In March, we move our meeting to the BREC Observatory and in December, we normally have a banquet at one of the local restaurants. Board meetings are the first Tuesday each month at 7 PM at Drusilla Seafood Restaurant. Club members are invited to attend dinner starting at 6pm
You can learn more about the history of BRARC on the BRARC History page.

The Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club presents two annual awards. The BR Award is sponsored by the Dr. John Hunter family and is presented for significant contribution to Amateur Radio. Nominations should be made in writing to any board member. The award is presented during our Christmas party. Stan Preston Award is given to someone of a helpful nature, as was Stan Preston, W5GIX, a charter member of the club. When Dr. Preston became a Silent Key, his family gave permission for the Club to remember him by assigning his call to the club station. Nominations should be made in writing to any board member. The award is also presented during our Christmas party.
Two other awards, Red Stick Award and the Worked All Parishes Award are presented to persons who complete the objective of the award and submit the required documentation to the BRARC Awards Committee. The details of each award and the recipients can be found on our awards page.
