Dean Guillermo Ferreyra visited China  in 2005 and 2006 to help finalize agreements between LSU and several universities there. The interdisciplinary programs created through these agreements will put LSU at the forefront of U.S. institutions focusing on Chinese culture and commerce. Besides the academic programs and research partnerships, LSU now has developed summer abroad programs in China that provide our students with enriching first-hand educational experiences that will serve them well even after they graduate.

In summer 2007, Dean Guillermo Ferreyra traveled to France to help celebrate the seventh year of the Ubaye Valley Project. This highly successful French immersion program provides LSU students with the opportunity to spend a month working part-time for local store owners and studying the French language and culture. Situated in the Southern Alps, the city of Barcelonnette in the beautiful Ubaye Valley, is the setting of the popular program. Friends of French at LSU provide financial support for the project.
