Transfer Credit Evaluation

However, sometimes the evaluators do not have enough information about a transfer course to make a decision as to whether the course is equivalent to one offered at LSU. When this occurs, the transfer course will be listed on your “Evaluation of Transfer Credit” as a 1000 level (freshman level), 2000 level (sophomore level), 3000 level (junior level), or 4000 level (senior level) potential elective (i.e., as 1***, 2***, 3***, or 4*** respectively).

If you would like to have the course evaluated further, you may bring course information (i.e., an old course syllabus, textbooks, notes, etc.) about the class in question to a faculty advisor for further review. The faculty advisor will evaluate the additional information and make a decision as to whether or not the class in question is equivalent to a specific course offered within their respective department or program. If they determine that the course is equivalent to one offered at LSU, the faculty advisor will complete an “Evaluation of Transfer Credit Form” or “Substitution of Transfer Credit Form” (shown below) for you denoting the transfer course and its LSU equivalent. Either form may be submitted to a representative of your senior college at Transfer Student Orientation. You may also submit this information to a staff member at our front counter in 119 Hodges Hall.
