We Study Rock Mechanics!

The ARMA (American Rock Mechanics Association) Student Chapter at Louisiana State University was founded in June 2012 by the graduate students of Craft and Hawkins Petroleum Engineering Department. The faculty advisor of this chapter is Dr. Arash Dahi Taleghani. This organization involves students from Petroleum, Civil & Environmental, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Departments, Geology & Geophysics Department and other departments. The purpose of this chapter is to generate interest in rock mechanics and geomechanics application by providing students opportunities to:

Share ideas and enthusiasm with fellow students and faculty from any relevant department on campus

Explore career opportunities

Develop leadership skills

Social & networking events

ARMA’s activities include: career opportunities networking, lectures given by guest speakers, team projects such as undergraduate competitions, social functions, etc. Currently, ARMA is in the process of establishing and building relationships with Oil and Gas companies’ geomechanics groups. Once speakers have been secured, several meetings will be scheduled during the Fall 2016 semester.
All are welcomed to join ARMA and there is no membership fee associated with joining the group. We are excited to have you participate in our group and we will keep you updated on our website about the upcoming activities and meetings.
