Distinguished Faculty Awards: The Office of Academic Affairs has issued the call for nominations for the 2016 Distinguished Faculty Awards. LSU is proud of its faculty, and we look forward to recognizing outstanding work among colleagues. Special thanks go to the LSU Alumni Association, the LSU Foundation, and the Tiger Athletic Foundation for their continued support. More information can be found here. Nomination packets are due through academic deans to Academic Affairs by Feb. 26.
Black History Month: The theme for this year’s Black History Month is “Building on Hallowed Grounds: The Evolution of Black Culture”. The celebration kicks off with the Mr. and Miss Imani Pageant on Tuesday February 2nd and continues with several programs throughout the month of February. OoD Book Club: The Office of Diversity is launching a new initiative this semester. We are inviting students, faculty and staff to join the LSU Office of Diversity Book Club! The first book selection is “Nine Lives: Mystery, Magic, Death, and Life in New Orleans by author Dan Baum. We will be meeting on March 28, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the LSU Women’s Center for a moderated group discussion with Dr. Rovaris and several of the individuals profiled in the book. To join, simply purchase your book or visit the library to obtain a copy, RSVP to email@example.com to confirm your participation and join us on March 28th for what is sure to be an insightful and inspiring conversation.
LSU Global: Six months into LSU Global’s debut on campus, the program has welcomed about 85 new students to campus. However, many are still wondering: exactly what is LSU Global. Online Teaching Cohort Meeting: Using Videos to Enhance Your Course (Tools & Best Practices): The Online Teaching Cohort will meet on Monday, February 15th from 11:30am-1:00pm at the Faculty Technology Center (109 Middleton Library). This meeting will include a presentation titled ‘Using Videos to Enhance Your Course- Tools & Best Practices,’ followed by discussion among attendees. Lunch will be provided.
