CAST Committee Approves Campus ADA Modification Projects

With the release of $1,032,950 from the Facilities Access Fee Fund, LSU’s Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) group will begin work on several priority interior and exterior accessibility improvement projects. PDC has worked closely with the CAST committee and the Office of Disability Services to develop a prioritized list.

Access into, in and around approximately 23 campus buildings will be improved along with sidewalk access improvements in several other general areas. Additionally, several campus buildings restrooms will receive upgrades to be accessible including: Pleasant, Woodin, Prescott, Lockett and Himes Halls.  Other buildings on the list for improvements include: Kirby Smith, Public Safety, Foster Hall, Swine Place, Wetland Resources, Ingram Hall, Gym Armory, Renewable Natural Resources, Thomas Boyd, Chemical Engineering, ROTC, Electrical Engineering, Howell Russell Geosciences Complex among others.

According to Roger Husser, most of the current projects will be completed over the next twelve months. In successive years, Planning, Design and Control will evaluate add new projects or reprioritize the current list of projects in consultation with the Campus Access Site Team (CAST) and in accordance with available funds.
