Kentucky Campus Compact is honored to sponsor the 2013 Gulf South Summit on Service-Learning and Civic Engagement through Higher Education. The conference is in Louisville, Kentucky, and is a great opportunity for faculty, staff, graduate students and community partners to network and learn from each other's innovative programming, partnerships and experiences.
The Conference theme is Re-Engaging Democracy in the 21st Century: Preparing Students to Lead Civic-Minded Lives and will feature key note speakers: Caryn McTighe Musil, senior vice president of AAC&U, Julie Hatcher, executive director of the Center for Service and Learning at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), and Silas House, author, activist and the NEH chair of Appalachian Studies at the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center at Berea College. The conference also features several pre-conference workshops focusing on current themes and developments in service-learning and community engagement presented by our keynotes and other leaders in the field.
Rooms will be held exclusively for the conference at a great rate at the Louisville Downtown Marriott until Feb. 7. Our Thursday night reception will be held at the Kentucky Derby Museum at Church Hill Downs & does require registration.
