Registration of Biohazard / Recombinant DNA Research
All biological research at LSU/LSU AgCenter is to be conducted using accepted biological safety practices and in full compliance with university policies and all applicable federal rules and regulations relating to such activities. Accordingly, all projects involving recombinant DNA, pathogens of humans, livestock animals, plants, and biological toxins must be registered and reviewed by the IBRDSC and/or LSUAC-IBC. Recombinant DNA is defined as the joining of natural or synthetic DNA segments to DNA molecules that can replicate in a living cell. Recombinant DNA research is the use of recombinant DNA for any purpose, including transgenic plants and animals. Some projects are exempt from review.
The recombinant DNA, pathogen and toxin oversight activities will be conducted according to the most recent editions of the CDC/NIH publications NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA MoleculesandBiosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories.
The Registration Document is now electronic. After clicking on the link below, you must enter your LSU or LSU AgCenter username & password to enter the document. The same document is used for registration with the Inter-Institutional Biological Recombinant DNA Safety Committee (IBRDSC) and the LSU AgCenter’s Institutional Biosafety Committee(LSUAC-IBC). The electronic form will direct you to the appropriate committee by how you answer the questions. You must fully complete each question to move to the next screen. If you have problems or questions please contact Quinesha P. Morgan, PhD, Senior Biological Safety Manager, 214 Administrative Support Building, LSU Campus, phone 578-4235, email email@example.com.

June Meeting of IBRDSC
|Submission Deadline:||Wednesday, June 21, 2017|
|Meeting Date||Thursday, June 29, 2017|
|Location:||Efferson Hall - Room 212|
Meetings are open to the public.
If you are importing or transporting a biological agent or recombinant organism and are not sure if there are any restriction or if an APHIS permit is necessary please contact Quinesha Morgan.
For studies where animals will be housed by the Department of Lab Animal Medicine (DLAM) (LSU Vet School) infected with pathogens or the introduction of recombinant DNA into animals, you must also print and complete the DLAM Hazard Warning Posting and send it to Quinesha P. Morgan, PhD, Senior Biological Safety Manager, 214 Administrative Support Building, LSU Campus, phone 578-4235, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The DLAM Hazard Warning is also a requirement of the LSU Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and must be signed by the Senior Biological Safety Manager.
