The 54-hour event is designed to bring developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts,
marketers, graphic designers and others together in the spirit of entrepreneurship.
The gathering is sponsored by the Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship & Information
Systems, part of the E. J. Ourso College of Business. The weekend is organized by
Techstars and is open to anyone.
Turning business ideas into reality is at the core of Startup Weekend. Beginning Friday
night with pitches and continuing through brainstorming, business plan development
and basic prototype creation, the weekend will culminate on Sunday night with demonstrations
and presentations. Participants create working startups during the event and can collaborate
with others who possess an entrepreneurial spirit. All teams benefit from coaching
provided by local entrepreneurs and other experts.

The Stephenson Department of Entrepreneurship and Information Systems at LSU’s E.
J. Ourso College of Business combines teaching and research to create a rich learning
